Michelle and I started Lovecars in Christchurch in 2016. We now have the largest range of car detailing and metal polish products in New Zealand, all housed in our Sockburn warehouse in Christchurch, just 5 minutes from where we live. We ship all orders ourselves, fast. We used to send orders from Auckland, but it’s much more reliable shipping from Christchurch—the traffic is better, and with most freight heading south, there’s plenty of room for our orders on the backload. We’ve built great partnerships, and freight is much more reliable from Christchurch.
Our History
We used to be called Professional Distributors Limited, or "Prodi" for short, but no one knew what that meant. Last year, we renamed ourselves to Lovecars Limited—because that’s what we do, we love cars.
We have four websites, and all orders are shipped from Christchurch. We also run the Kings of Chrome, Chemical Guys’ NZ Website, and recently took over United Car Care to keep that brand going. We’re proud to partner with Fireball of Korea, known for the world’s most advanced ceramic coatings.
How We Work
What I’m most proud of is how we’ve shared knowledge on how to use the products. I love reading customer feedback, seeing photos or videos of their work, and hearing how happy they are—it’s pretty cool.
We’ve built our business on happy customers returning and spreading the word. We don’t make much off one order, so we need customers happy and coming back. That’s what we focus on.
We know our products and are constantly learning. I’ve attended many overseas training programs and tested all the products we sell—and many more that we don’t! I like to understand the chemistry and why things work the way they do. Chemicals are all about trade-offs: you want maximum shine? You probably won’t get maximum foam.
We may be small, but we’re passionate, and we punch above our weight. We ship orders fast and have invested in systems, tools, and packaging to outperform anyone in the market.
I believe we’ve invested in the right things—our stock inventory is huge, with over 1,000 line items from all over the world. Michelle jokes that if we won Lotto, I’d probably just buy more car wash, and she’s probably right!
Why We don't have a retail shop
We don’t have a retail shop. If we did, I’d talk too much and wouldn’t get the orders out in time! Or the training videos done! We don’t want that. And I can give better advice online with photos and videos.
We focus on sending orders fast and packing them well. Orders placed before 2 pm on weekdays should leave that day, after that we try but it might not make the courier.
We offer fast nationwide freight at a low flat rate, with free shipping on orders over $70. And offer click-and-collect in Christchurch.
We also now ship to Australia. Freight is fast - going Air freight to the closest main hub and then Australia Post to your door.
We have the best products and the biggest range, we give honest advice, and we work hard to support our customers. If you’re not happy, let us know.
We don’t just sell products—we test them, understand the trade-offs of different chemicals, and ensure you get the right products for your car and know how to use them effectively. We only sell what we’ve tested, and we’ve been doing this for over 8 years now. I’m a trained Master Detailer, and we undergo regular training. We work with some of New Zealand’s best detailers and dealerships. We’re so thankful for our loyal repeat customers and our passionate, well-trained team. Thank you, everyone!

Where we are:
We have recently moved to a new warehouse at Unit 8 / 33 Nga Mahi Road, Sockburn, Christchurch. All sales are online only, we do not have a store you can visit and are not open to visitors without prior appointments.

Orders before 1pm on a weekday normally ship the same day and should arrive in 1-2 working days. Rural delivery will take longer. We can not guarantee delivery and dispatch times but we try very hard to get orders out fast. Please allow an extra day to be safe. While we often dispatch orders on weekends the couriers do not collect these until the next working day. We use mostly Post Haste and NZ Post's courier service, and will be adding more options soon. There is no perfect courier but we find them good. When your order is sent you will get an email with the tracking number that you can click on to track your order and arrange redelivery, or giving authority to leave without a signature. These emails sometimes go to your junk mail folder, if they are there, please mark us as a safe sender so you don't have that issue next time.
